IntelliStream, the industrial data platform you build yourself

Most operations teams have been there: you sit through the demo, you totally get the pitch, but then you see the price tag and have to walk away.

One shared model of your assets, the processes, the business context that frames them, and every signal and event they produce with lineage tracked from start to finish. Is exactly what you need. It just arrives with a seven-figure price tag, an eighteen month rollout, and storage that locks you in for good.

So a lot of good teams decide to build it themselves. And we respect that, because in a real sense, it’s exactly what we did.

What you’re actually building

An operational data platform is less mysterious than the category name suggests. Strip it back and it’s a few things living in one system: a model of what you operate, the signals and events that describe it, lineage on every derived value, and a way to navigate all of it without writing SQL or knowing which system owns which table.

The ingredients are open source and well understood. Apache Pulsar moves the events. ClickHouse stores the time-series. Neo4j holds the relationships. PostgreSQL anchors the rest. Wire them together, add an ontology layer, a lineage layer, and a console your team can actually use, and you have something like IntelliStream DataHub.

Why the last mile is where most teams get stuck

Here’s the honest part. Teams with real platform engineering capacity can pull this off when the ontology you need is genuinely unusual and platform infrastructure is core to your competitive advantage. But what we see most often is different; a team ships the ingestion and the dashboards, then leaves lineage and data quality as a “phase two” that never comes.

The infrastructure isn’t the hard part. The hard parts are the model, the lineage story, and the UX that makes it usable for people who aren’t data engineers. That’s years of work and it’s the work that quietly doesn’t get polished.

How do you build it yourself with us?

This is where “build it yourself” and “IntelliStream” stop being opposites.

IntelliStream DataHub is open source under AGPL-3.0. You can spin up our platform right on your laptop or in your own secure environment. Just run git clone && docker compose up to get a working instance with sample data to play around. Read the code, audit it, or run it air-gapped. Your data, your rules, you can even fork it if we ever disappear.

We built it entirely on standard components, so you never have to worry about getting trapped in a rigid, proprietary storage system. Your data stays yours!

The choice is yours! Self-host for free, deploy it anywhere, and own it 100%. If you’d rather not manage the infrastructure, you can run it on our multi-petabyte Nordic setup. It costs a fraction of standard cloud alternatives, routinely coming in at 10× cheaper than the big enterprise guys. Plus, our 90-day pilots are fixed price and focused entirely on a KPI you define. If it doesn't land, the code is yours to keep.

We’re four people building this in the open, because we think this category deserves an open answer. Try it, and talk to us.
